About Alec McPhedran Chartered FCIPD, CMngr MCMI, MAoC

Alec McPhedran is a creative and energetic coach and personal skills trainer. His wide cross-industry experience and media background make his delivery and communication style incredibly innovative and effective. His aim is to help people achieve.
His portfolio of current clients include television companies, camera technitians, film mentors, reality show contestants, retired sports professionals, defence communication businesses, gas and oil exploration, finance, motor sport, hospitality and regional sector bodies. Alec’s time is split between facilitated learning, coaching and career management support. When developing people, his main areas are leadership, management, strategy and personal development of which he typically works across the range of management levels, especially on high impact change initiatives. He particularly enjoys working on leadership, team development and living the vision and values challenges. When coaching individuals, on a one to one, his sole focus is on what the client wants to achieve. He is at his best when heping people to refocus their careers.
Alec is the founder and managing director of Skills Channel TV, a coaching and training business mainly working in the arts and creative sector. He has previously held senior management roles with Channel 4, Railtrack, FTManagement, Henley Distance Learning and The Open College. Alec is also a senior associate with the Chartered Management Institute and Hemsley Fraser. This range of corporate senior management and broadcast experience uniquely places him as someone who understands creative business management pressures, issues and the need to help people to continually improve, as well as enjoy their work.
Alec is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Chartered Manager, a Member of the Chartered Management Institute, a Member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and a Member of the Association of Coaching. He is also a Creative Network Arts coach/mentor, a Business Link West Midlands Creative Business Adviser and a Prince’s Trust Mentor.
Alec is a governor for his local health authority NHS trust, a director of Screen Northants and a trustee with The Core at Corby.
Based in Northamptonshire, Alec works on a range of international and UK assignments on developing talent. He is a keen follower of indie music and suffers Kettering Town Football Club.
